Down Syndrome Determination
One of the greatest lessons that I have learned from having a son with Down syndrome is to trust in his determination. What that means is that I am absolutely sure that Isaac will push himself relentlessly towards a meaningful goal.
I remember when he was a toddler, his physical therapist, LeAnn would say, ”Isaac is THE most hard-working kid that I have. It is a pleasure to watch him push himself to higher and higher levels.”
He has that same enthusiasm/determination for learning. And I would like to nurture it.
I have the same enthusiasm. I have always loved to learn. When I became better at it, I loved it more.
I will do my best to set Isaac up for success, so that he makes progress and his love of learning grows.
I will also provide opportunities for him to be more and more successful on the playground….so that his love of physical activity continues to grow.
I see this determination as a gift. I am also very happy to hear about more and more people like Isaac who have the same gifts of determination.
Today I will share with you an article about Joanna Torgerson. Joanna lives in Tennessee. And according to the news reporter, “Joanna does not let her Down syndrome get her down.”
